BNSF Railway Houston Auto Facility Expansion 

Quality. LJA provided engineering services for the expansion of an existing automotive facility in Houston, Texas. Services included planning, design, permitting, scheduling, cost estimating, and bid package preparation for the BNSF Houston Automotive Facility, as well as construction management services for the project.

BNSF required additional capacity in the Houston region to transport vehicles for a major US automobile manufacturer. In response to their needs, LJA designed a 22-acre parking lot expansion, six unloading tracks, and two leads to provide additional capacity at the existing auto facility. Improvements were constructed without impacting existing operations at the facility. Construction phasing was critical with detailed ingress/egress for vehicles and transport trucks, as well as for maintaining rail car spots for unloading vehicles. The scope of work also included grading, track, pavement, drainage, detention pond, lighting, and fencing/gates.
