The Woodlands Waterway Turning Basin

Quality. LJA’s engineering services for this massive project included civil and structural engineering, and construction management services. The complex and extensive nature of the project involved diligent coordination between all design and engineering disciplines to maintain quality and deliver the project within schedule.

LJA provided civil and structural engineering design services in coordination with design and landscape architects and electrical engineers. We also managed construction inspection services throughout the project including the installation of enhanced pedestrian features and aesthetic details along the popular waterway. Completion of the transitway to connect with Lake Woodlands Drive and an additional transit station, walk and bike ways along the waterway, pedestrian bridge crossing near outlet of waterway to Lake Woodlands, and the addition of three water features at the upper and lower basins of the waterway were pivotal design components. LJA also served as structural engineer for the project, designing and detailing the reinforced concrete substructure elements for the fountains, retaining walls, and seat walls, as well as for the timber deck and pilings. The design involved detailed and coordinated collaboration with the architect.
