Hodde Lane

The Hodde Lane project consists of realigning an existing rural roadway to an interim 2-lane, ultimate 4-lane divided arterial urban section. The safety improvement project will enhance vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic in the Hodde Lane corridor. The project began in a Preliminary Engineering Report phase where LJA presented numerous options to Travis County and then entered the PS&E phase with Pflugerville ISD after selection of an alignment. The project included corridor realignment, intersection improvements, and eliminating floodplain concerns. Coordination with Travis County, City of Pflugerville, Pflugerville ISD, and FEMA was critical to provide a collaborative effort to address each entity’s concerns.

Unique Features:

  • Realignment of existing roadway to find optimal route based on multiple factors.
  • Public Involvement process with reluctant stakeholder (local church). LJA worked closely with the Travis County/Pflugerville ISD to understand all the alternatives to give the client options.
  • Working with a client that typically does not design/construction roadways, team had to have a more robust coordination plan and brought Travis County into the decision process and review process during PS&E.
  • Confluence of two floodplains at critical point of alignment required alignment adjustments to avoid confluence and expensive bridge alternative.
