City of Jacinto City Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades

Quality. The project consisted of the addition of a new motor control center and emergency generator and a two meter belt press to an existing wastewater treatment plant. The city was able to decommission the old drying beds and use the belt press for dewatering which accelerates the process time and decreases hauling expenses. This project also added an emergency back-up generator which is more adequately sized for the treatment plant demands.

LJA provided the engineering design services for all site work, structural, mechanical, electrical, and control components for the wastewater treatment plant upgrades. Scope included pavement, motor control center, dewatering facility, and an emergency generator. LJA also provided bidding and construction phase services as well as project representative services during construction.

The most challenging part of the project was allowing for space constraints, as the existing site did not have an adequate footprint for a conventional belt press building with a side conveyor belt. Instead, an elevated structure was constructed that allowed the container to be parked underneath and the sludge cake to drop through a chute directly into the container.
