The Woodlands
Responsiveness. Over three decades working with The Woodlands has allowed LJA to be a part of the most successful master planned community in the region. Our pivotal involvement has included the design of the underground infrastructure along with extensive land planning work. Our services include the design of water facilities, sanitary sewer, drainage facilities, and paving projects, while our planning work includes the layout of streets, lots, parks, trails, and commercial tracts to create The Woodlands community.
We continue to work on various projects such as new sections, major thoroughfares, drainage improvement projects, roadway expansions, intersection improvements, signal modifications, and land planning services in this well-established and thriving community.
A 25,000-acre planned community located 27 miles north of downtown Houston, The Woodlands incorporates controlled growth and development standards to maintain an open atmosphere in the community. More than 109,000 people currently reside in this forestland community, a self-sustaining “hometown” that includes residential, commercial, mixed-use, office, and light industrial development.
LJA’s integral involvement in the development of The Woodlands began over 30 years ago. We have designed water, sanitary sewer, drainage, and paving to serve over 200 sections and commercial sites along with major facilities and boulevards. Work also included the design of lift stations, force mains, drainage channels, and detention systems. We have prepared and secured approval of various LOMR, LOMA, and LOMR-F, which have modified the floodplain throughout the entire community.
LJA’s services include park and sportsfield layout and design, critical infrastructure such as roadway and bridge design for thoroughfares, and design and permitting of dams and reservoirs. Drainage and site engineering has been completed for retail areas including Market Street, The Woodlands Mall, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Woodlands Waterway, Alden Bridge Village Center, The Woodlands Power Center, and Pinecroft Center, as well as the 10,000-acre Research Forest commercial site and the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital site. LJA has performed drainage/hydrology for all six premier golf courses: The Pines, Oaks, Palmer, Player, and Nicklaus courses, and the Tournament Players Course, which hosted the Shell Houston Open for almost 20 years.
