Frisco, TX—LJA is pleased to announce the addition of Johnson, PE, PH, CFM, GISP, as Project Director of Business Development. Johnson brings more than 26 years of experience in civil engineering, municipal leadership, infrastructure planning, and development coordination, further strengthening LJA’s ability to serve developers and growing communities throughout North Texas.
Before joining LJA, Gabe served as Director of Public Works for the City of Frisco, where he led more than 280 employees and managed four funds with combined budgets exceeding $190 million. He previously served as Director of Engineering and Public Works for the City of Grand Prairie and as Director of Engineering and Public Works, City Engineer, Floodplain Administrator, and GIS Coordinator for the City of Celina. Earlier in his career, Gabe managed stormwater and floodplain programs for Grand Prairie and worked as a water resources engineer and project manager for Freese and Nichols.
Gabe’s experience on both the municipal and consulting sides of the industry gives him a practical understanding of the challenges facing public agencies. He is known for developing strong relationships, building effective teams, and translating long-range plans into practical, customer-focused solutions.

Gabe earned a Bachelor of Science in Hydrology and Water Resources from Tarleton State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer, Professional Hydrologist, Certified Floodplain Manager, and Geographic Information Systems Professional. His recognitions include the Celina Chamber of Commerce Director of the Year Award, the Texas Floodplain Management Association’s City Floodplain Management Excellence Award, and Tarleton’s School of Engineering Alumni Academic Award. A former Tarleton basketball player, Gabe was inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Johnson has served on the Gunter ISD Board of Trustees since 2019 and currently serves as board president. He and his wife, Amy, live in Gunter and have three children.
