Mike manages the firm's Rail Services sector with responsibility for operations, project management, and business development. Licensed as a professional engineer in Texas, California, Illinois, Kansas, and Florida, his experience spans over 35 years and includes diverse railroad expertise in Class I railroad engineering, operations, construction, and maintenance management, two decades of related consulting and construction, and a three-year stint conducting railroad research with the Texas Transportation Institute. Prior to joining LJA, Mike served in multiple roles for Southern Pacific Transportation Company working his way from roadmaster up to general manager of the 4,000-mile Eastern region, where he was the recipient of the highly lauded President’s Cup Award for implementation of the organization-wide quality improvement process. Mike is adept and knowledgeable about working with major railroads including UPRR, BNSF, CSX, and NS, as well as rail districts, transit authorities, and terminal railroad companies. His experience includes international projects located in Panama, Australia, Jamaica, Guinea, and Canada. Mike is an active member of The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association.
