Jim Moehlman, PE, Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors is retiring after 24 years with LJA. James Ross, PE, currently a Senior Vice President within Houston Land Development and a manager of his own namesake division, stepped into the role on March 31, 2019.
Jim began his career with Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. in January 1974. In 1995, he joined LJA. Jim’s 45 years of experience were spent in land development, enabling him to provide valuable client-side perspective with a deep understanding of financial, aesthetic, and technical issues. In addition to growing Houston Land Development from 29 people to a current staff of over 300 and $60 Million in revenue, he has also been a member of the LJA Board of Directors since 1997.
“Jim has been an outstanding leader at LJA for a quarter of a century,” said Calvin Ladner, President. “He’s played a vital and central role in the creation of land development at LJA. Beyond his leadership inside the firm, Jim has distinguished himself as a sought-out expert and resource across the greater Houston area and land development community.”
James Ross said, “Jim has directed and overseen the tremendous growth of our Houston Land division. He has been a great leader and mentor to all of us and is leaving behind very big shoes to fill. I’m looking forward to the challenge and continuing the great success of the Land Development team at LJA.”
In his new role, James will manage 15 separate specialty teams and services including civil design, hydrology & hydraulics, planning, residential platting, site development, landscape architecture, water/wastewater, and construction phase services. Along with overseeing this vital group of 300 personnel, James will continue to be involved in new and existing client management and development. He has served as a District Engineer for various MUDs, TIRZs, and Special Districts providing key guidance to these organizations.
